Wedding Prep - No Time, No Problem
Wedding Prep - No Time, No Problem Weâre all busy these days. Lots of us are working long hours so that we can make our rent each month and, on top of all that work, many of us also have a packed social calendar to try and stick to. Everyone seems to be busy bees all the time! So, then what happens if your partner decides to pop the question? You might start to have a panic attack when you realize you have no time to plan a wedding! But it doesnât have to be like that. In fact, planning a wedding is perfectly possible even if you have no time for all that organization. The following tips should help you get there without too much stress! Hire A Wedding Planner One of the obvious things you could do is to hire a wedding planner, such as Creative Destination Events. This is especially useful if you are thinking of getting married abroad. The company will allocate you your own wedding planner who will be able to help you get everything ready for the big day. Just let them know the wedding theme you would like and your ideal venue. They will do all the hard work and find possible venues for you. Donât worry, though; you will have the final say in which one you go with! Get Your Suppliers To Come To You You will need to hire a few different people for your wedding day, like a photographer, DJ or band for the evening party, and caterers for the wedding breakfast. Heading out to meet all these different suppliers can take up a lot of your time. One way to save some time is to get all these suppliers to come to you. If you organize meetings at your own home, it will cut out all the time you would have needed to take to get to each supplier. If your supplier wonât come to see you at home, they might be happy to arrange a Skype meeting. Plan A Schedule Even though your current schedule may be quite tight, Iâm sure you will be able to block out an hour each week to focus on wedding planning. Even just one hour a week should be enough to call suppliers and organize important aspects of your big day. You may need to make more time to do some of the more important parts of planning, such as shopping for a wedding dress. Thankfully, most bridal boutiques are open on the weekends, so you donât have to miss work or lose your evenings to finding a dress! Get Your Partner To Lend A Hand The wedding prep shouldnât solely be done by the bride-to-be! If your partner hasnât offered to help you, simply give him some jobs to do. After all, it is his big day as well, and you should split all the planning 50-50. If either of you is particularly busy, the other should step up and take over. Do you have any other planning tips for girls with little spare time? Let us know in the comments below!

International Womens Day At Debut HQ
International Womens Day At Debut HQ So last night, Debut held its first event of 2017 and man, it felt good to be back. Especially considering how important yesterday was not just for us, but for women around the world. Yesterday was International Womens Day and we couldnt just let it go by unmarked. So, in a sequel of sorts to our epic event from last October, we got established women in tech from the likes of EY, Fujitsu, Capgemini, FDM and Cisco to meet with a room full of excited female Debutants to discuss the challenges that lay ahead for women and celebrate their achievements to this point. Yo @DebutCareers #IWD2017 crowd you are the ultimate girl gang Im loving being here with yall to celebrate #WomenInTech for @fdmgroup â" Miss Sophie (@letsdostuffs) 8 March 2017 After the companies introduced and pitched themselves to crowd, a thoughtful panel discussion ensued. The waiting audience was eager for advice about the technology sector and representatives from each brand gave their own advice on how to get there, stay there and excel as women in a male-dominated industry. Stronger together This then opened up into a QA session with the audience getting a mix of hard truths, earnest confessions and indispensable insights from the panel of experts. Its not about what you study at uni . Its what you fall in love with, and I fell in love with tech companies. @Cisco #WomeninTech pic.twitter.com/NNHPsLVbxf â" Debut (@DebutCareers) 8 March 2017 There were many moving moments shared between those present in the intimate setting of Debut HQ. It was pure emotion from EYs Gulenn Tambes fiery speech on self-confidence to a Debutants story of a friend who fell pregnant in her second year of university, still attending every lecture and exam regardless. To see these seasoned veterans and fresh young faces talk about how we can better support women in their tech ambitions was a great sight to behold. In typical Debut style, the chance came for the young women to put their knowledge to the test. A quiz took place with the top 10 participants winning a number of fabulous prizes, including virtual reality headsets and more. At the top of that list, however, was a one-on-one meeting with one of the five huge employers present, giving a lucky few the chance to kick off their own story as a woman in the technology industry. What did the Debutants think? For those who didnt get that chance, there was an opportunity to network at the end of the evening. We used it as an opportunity to catch up with some of the attendees and get their thoughts on the evening. Jemani, a final year Physics student from Queen Mary said of the panel: I experienced a lot of the same problems they went through. I was the only girl in my Physics class. So I guess if they can successfully navigate it then I can as well. Sylvia, a biochemistry student from Imperial was undeterred by the challenges she could potentially face, thanks to wise words from the experts. It was really inspirational to see that these women had gone through all that and they were still working and still successful, she said. It made me so much less worried about that in my life. To top it all off, 4 people were fast-tracked directly into the selection process by the recruiters present. With so much golden advice and as many golden opportunities, Debuts Women In Tech 2 was a cant miss event from which young women left encouraged and empowered. Heres to the future. Truly humbled. Thank you @CapgeminiUKppl @Cisco @EY_StudentsUK @FDMGroup @FujitsuGrads your ladies are amazing. #IWD2017 https://t.co/tRodyRREr0 â" Charlie Taylor (@CharlieatDebut) 8 March 2017 Download the Debut app and connect with top graduate employers in an instant. The Key to Achieving Success in Every Goal
The Key to Achieving Success in Every Goal Why are some people more successful than others? How do they get promoted to influential roles? What do they do that makes them the natural choice for new opportunities? If youâve ever asked yourself these questions, then Iâm going to share with you one thing they do that makes them successful. Take Action on a Consistent Basis What successful people do that others donât is to take action on a consistent basis. These arenât the big, bold actions like taking on a challenging new assignment, but rather the small ones that build up over time. Like the compounding effect of interest on an investment. For example, taking a few minutes each day to connect with someone in your network to build and strengthen your relationship. Not only does this take very little time, it builds a network of trusted relationships that can help you in your career and life. Or making it a point to speak up and add value in every meeting. Doing this consistently results in you becoming more confident and growing your authority and influence. Why Consistency Pays Off When you do something every day, it becomes ânormalâ for you and you donât have to use up precious decision-making capacity because itâs a habit. Successful people take advantage of this by incorporating consistent positive actions into their daily lives. The key is to choose the right actions for you to take consistently. Your choices now will determine the pay-off you get in the long-term. And what you choose may change over time as your life evolves. Take the Right Actions So, what are the things that matter to you most, especially in the longer term? Maybe itâs your relationships and your health. Perhaps itâs reaching a career goal or making an impact in a particular area. Whatever those things are, make sure youâre taking consistent action that lead you toward succeeding in that goal. âWe are what we repeatedly do.ââ" Will Durant (interpreting a passage from Aristotle) When it comes to the things that matter â" like your relationships, health, career and impact in the world â" consistently taking small steps is more powerful than taking one big step. Those are things you canât âcramâ. And if you do leave them to the last minute or when you âhave more timeâ, you wonât get the same result. For example, you wouldnât think of putting off brushing your teeth for 30 days and making it up by brushing them 30 times on the last day of the month! Consistently taking small steps is more powerful than taking one big step. The Things You Canât âCramâ In your career, the things you canât leave to the last minute and still expect great results are mostly related to relationships. For better or worse, most of whatâs needed for career success these days requires having relationships with people. For example: To succeed as a team leader, itâs the daily interactions you have with team members that make the difference. How do you respond when someone presents an idea? Whenâs the last time you started a meeting with appreciating the progress the team has made? When it comes to generating business results and opportunities, itâs the consistency with which you call your clients and prospects. What are you doing consistently to build trusted relationships? Are you making outbound calls only when thereâs a product to sell? To explore your next career step, the best way is to leverage your network and to have one in place before you need it. How often do you touch base with your mentors? What are you doing to build relationships with people beyond the ones needed to get your job done? No matter how small the actions are, when you take them consistently the pay-off is fewer problems and greater successes in whatever area youâve chosen. Plus thereâs a ripple effect across other areas of your life too. âOur culture is the result of a trillion tiny acts, taken by billions of people, every day. Each of them can seem insignificant, but all of them add up, one way or the other, to the change we each live through.ââ" Seth Godin What Will You Do? Today is the start of the Chinese New Year and a fitting time for adopting your new habit of taking consistent action to achieve the things that matter most to you and reaching the aspirations you hold most dear. The key to success is not to rely on willpower or leave things to chance. Whether itâs about your career, health, relationships, impact or another aspiration you hold dear, your success depends on the actions you take consistently. Your success depends on the actions you take consistently. What goal have you set your sights on to achieve this year and what consistent action will you take to succeed? Leave me a comment and let me know.
